Frelick described Pat Murphy as a manager who treats baseball management as relationship-building.

Frelick said Murphy requires every Brewers hitter to be able to hit opposite-field ground balls on command.

“Murph literally says you can't play on our team unless you can hit a backside ground ball like on command pretty much”

Frelick recounted that his Boston College baseball coach persuaded him to focus on baseball rather than play football too.
