Listener Tales 115: Halloween Tales

Episode of Morbid · October 29, 2026 · 56 min

In costume and fake blood, Morbid hosts Ash Kelley and Alaina Urquhart read four listener-submitted Halloween ghost and horror stories.

Summary

In this Halloween edition of Morbid's Listener Tales series, hosts Ash Kelley and Alaina Urquhart recorded in full costume and fake-blood makeup and read four spooky stories submitted by listeners, interspersed with banter about their costumes.

The first tale described a teenage babysitter in suburban Philadelphia on Halloween 2008 who fended off an intruder, later identified as a neighbor's adult son squatting in a shed, by striking him with a Bop It toy. The second, from a returning listener known as Boom Boom Sauce Daniel, recounted a 2009 camping trip in the Catskills during which friends found a ruined village called Curdle Quick Falls, scattered human teeth, a Ouija board message from "Abigail," a disturbing colonial-era dream, and later a tooth in the narrator's shoe. The hosts also recalled finding fake teeth spilled from a bag during a past Halloween live-show run.

The third tale, from a listener named Morgan, related a nurse's account of a heart monitor that produced waveforms after a patient's death and appeared to answer a hospital priest's questions, followed by a "thank you" tray falling from a wall. The fourth, from a Texas listener named Luna, described a towering shadow figure with red eyes in an old cemetery on Halloween. The hosts reacted with humor throughout, with Urquhart recommending the series Midnight Mass and both speculating about the priest's intentions.
