Contrary to the prediction that Crowley was almost certain to lose and that his re-entry would help Francesca Hong win, David Crowley won the August 11, 2026 Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial primary, according to the AP race call. He got 39.8% of the vote and beat Hong by about 0.4 percentage points, even though polls a week earlier showed him trailing by nearly 20 points.
